Joined the Christian Democratic Union, 1956. Minister for Displaced Persons, Refugees and Victims of War of Germany, 1953-1960. Convicted of war crimes for his involvement in the Lviv massacre of 1941, East Germany, 1960. Overturned, 1993. Active in far right and anti-immigration politics.
