| "Peace-The Not So Silent Spring," 1-3/4" Red/Yellow/Green Celluloid, with a hand holding an olive branch. Item has mild surface spotting (not visible on image) and the price has been reduced accordingly. This item is probably from the Spring Mobilization of 1967. Spring Mobilization sponsored a march in New York City on April 15, 1967, in which over 100,000 demonstrated against the war. The button plays on the title of Rachel Carson's 1962 best-seller, "The Silent Spring," which launched the environmental movement. Spring Mobilization really launched the mainstream anti-war movement through its "Not So Silent" Spring. |
