Lefkowitz (1904-1996) was one of the most popular politicans in New York during the 1960s and 1970s. A former Republican Assemblyman, 1928-1930, he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House in 1940. From 1957 to 1979, he was New York's Republican Attorney General. He also ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of New York. |
