Gregor Gysi (1948-Alive), a former East German Communist reformer, was Chairman of the German Left Party (Party of Democratic Socialism), 1990-1993. He also served as Chairman of its parliamentary group from 1990 to 2001. He was Senator for the Economy, Labour and Women in Berlin, 2001-2002. Since 2005, he has been Chairman of Die Linke.
