USEFUL LINKS

There are many excellent resources for collectors of items offered by Havel's House of History.  This page will identify a few that are especially recommended and provide links to their WEBsites.

1.  Havel's House of History Annex.  I thought I'd translate some ideas for buttons into actual products.  CafePress allowed me to do this through the creation of a store housed in their shop.  The buttons offered at this location are my designs and I receive a small portion of the sales price, but none of the sales processing is done by Havel's House of History.  It's all taken care of the host, CafePress.  Since these items are produced when the purchaser buys them, you can order as many as you want.  For those items that are election specific, I will remove the item following that election to assure that only authentic buttons produced prior to an election are available to future collectors.  To visit Havel's House of History Annex, click http://www.cafepress.com/houseofhistory .

2.  Cafe Press:  If you'd like to leave Havel's House of History and visit the general political  offerings at CafePress, click here:  http://www.cafepress.com/shop/politics/?pid=2070590 .  They have lots of neat stuff.

3.  Hall of Fame Sports This is an Ebay auction site maintained by my brother, Bill Havel.  Bill offers pre-certified and authenticated autographed items from Hall of Famers in a variety of sports.  WEBstore:  http://stores.ebay.com/HOF-Sports ).  I know you'll enjoy his offerings and I can personally vouch for Bill's integrity and lifelong interest in the sports he covers.

4.  Rich Davis.  Rich is a Collectibles Specialist, Investment Adviser, and authenticator of autographic materials.  His major interests are sports cards and sports memorabilia, autographed items, coins and currency, Golden and Silver Age comic books, stamps, and signed hardcover books.  His site is well worth a visit and his services are top-notch.

5.  American Political Items Collectors.  This is the oldest organization of collectors of political buttons, artifacts and memorabilia.  In my judgment, it is also the finest, offering a wide variety of benefits to members and an excellent handbook, subscriptions to the Political Bandwagon monthly newspaper and a quarterly magazine known as the Keynoter.  Specialty chapters and an annual convention help collectors network.  A Code of Ethics and an Ethics Committee police forgeries and reproductions, as well as unsavory sales practices.  I have been a proud member of APIC since 1960 and hold membership number 166.  There are now over 15,000 members!

6.  Earl Dodge.    Earl Dodge was the 6-time Presidential candidate of the Prohibition Party and a personal friend.  He died in 2007, but his family maintains his wonderful WEBsite of Prohibition items for sale (some of which are also available from Havel's House of History).  If you visit the site, tell his family Jim Havel sent you along with my regards.

7.  Universal Autograph Collectors Club.  U.A.C.C. is the premier organization for autograph collectors of all kinds.  I highly endorse it and its Code of Ethics.  Their magazine, The Pen and Quill, is filled with valuable information, addresses, and helpful hints to new collectors and more experienced professionals.

8.  Autographsnet.  Check out http://autographsnet.com.  It's a nicely done site by a young man in Norway.  Lots of nice photos of celebrity autographs.

9.  Political Heritage.  Tom French's great site, offering buttons and memorabilia.  Tom is a long time friend and member of APIC.  WEBsite:  http://wwwpoliticalheritage.com.

10.  Collectics antiques & Collectibles.  Check out http://www.collectics.com.   Large, eclectic mix of consignment shop, antiques and collectibles mall, collector bookstore and book reviews, reference information, collecting quiz to win free gift certificates, directory and online museum featuring Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Arts and Crafts design, 1890-1935.

11.  Thematic Gallery of Indian AutographsThis is an amazing site created by longtime collector Praful Thakkar.  It is filled with illustrations of the signatures of Indian celebrities, politicians, and historical figures.  Many of the signatures in the "Indian-Related Autographs" feature in our Reference Section are borrowed from the Thematic Gallery.  Don't miss it at: indianautographs.com/.
