A staunch and unflinching supporter of her husband's leadership of the civil rights movement, despite personal deprivation and threats to her life. A Founding Member, Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, 1957. Supported women's and gay rights and opposed the War in Iraq. Spiritual heir and custodian of the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
