Fostered the Puritan cause and was forced to flee to Holland, 1633. After returning to England, he departed for New England, 1637. A Co-Founder of the Colony of New Haven, 1638. Puritan Minister in New Haven and a powerful figure in the colony until he lost his struggle to prevent the union of New Haven and Connecticut, 1665.
