Havel's House of History, your source for autographs, political items, and more, was founded by Jim Havel in 2001 and is located in Worthington, Ohio.  It is the culmination of a lifetime of collecting.  In fact, Jim received his first autograph in 1957.  At that time, the young Havel was a collector of campaign materials, intrigued by the excitement of the 1956 election.  Harry S Truman wrote Jim's mother to express his regrets that he had no campaign items leftover from his 1948 Presidential campaign that he could send Jim.  But Jim wasn't disappointed.  He had Truman's autograph!  And it launched him on another of his many hobbies centered around historical Americana.

Eventually, Jim acquired collections of first edition books, historic newspapers, Catholic Holy Cards, non-sports cards, Judaica, and other ephemera to add to his campaign buttons and autographs.  He even became author of an acclaimed two-volume reference work on presidential elections, U.S. Presidential Candidates and the Elections:  A Biographical and Historical Guide (Macmillan Library Reference USA/Simon & Schuster, 1996).  His passion has continued to the present time, but now he shares his joy with his wonderful wife, Roberta, and his young daughter, Lianna.  Roberta and Lianna help manage Havel's House of History and Lianna is an active collector of autographs in her own right.

Jim has three other grown children--twins Julie and Emily, and a son, Jay.  They all reside in Oregon.  Julie and her husband, Curtis, have given Jim and Roberta two grandsons, Justin and Jacob; while Jay has added two more grandchildren--Lexi and  Jackson.   Jim is retired from his professional life, but he and Roberta and Lianna still don't get to visit the Oregon Havels as often as they would like.
